July Mom of the Month - Jessica Cox

From our instructor Nicole Kelly.....Congratulations to our July Mom of the Month, Jessica Cox!

She has been such a role model for the new moms and I have loved having her in our Stroller Strides classes. Jessica always comes out with a great attitude, works hard, and does it all with a smile on her face. She is very easy to talk to and would do anything for anyone. We are lucky to have her in Our Village!

From Jessica....

1. My husband and I have been married for nine years. We met in Jacksonville Florida while he was at Mayport Naval Station. We actually met at the church where we got married. We both attended a singles luncheon and he sat right next to me. I have a 6 year old son who just completed kindergarten and a 1 year old. I am not counting months anymore....its too hard....haha.

2. My favorite part of motherhood is....is the unconditional love from my children. I also love seeing the sparkle in their eyes during Christmas time when they see Santa. I enjoy the unstoppable hugs and kisses that you get from your children. I love being able to teach my children things about the world around them.

My advice to a first time mom is you are not alone...emotionally, physically or mentally! Also, if you are experiencing the baby blues get out of your house and find other moms because they COMPLETELY understand your thoughts and feelings.

3. This question was hard to answer because I joined Stroller Strides in Rhode Island and stayed with them for about 4 months because Rhode Island didn't have a place to workout inside during the winter.

I joined this Stroller Strides back in January/February 2016 while I was pregnant with Caroline because I was feeling the baby blues! I joined the group because I knew that I could express my feelings with other moms and still get a safe workout! Than I had a fall while I was pregnant and had to stop working out :(. But as soon as Caroline was born and I got the all clear from my doctor I was back and have never looked back!

I attend the Chesapeake City Park and the City View park classes.

What brought me to you guys was my husband's job. I was experiencing depression both during and after pregnancy, so I knew that the girls and workouts would make my emotions get under control. I also loved the safe workouts that were created for pregnant and new moms.

I stay with you all because you are my friends and I feel like you all care about me as a person! I also love being play group captain because I used to be a preschool teacher.
